WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:

We are searching for Senior Development Operations Engineer to join our research and development team.  


THE EVERYDAY VIEW

The unique challenges and environments supported by NeuLion in providing cutting-edge video and streaming services and technology demand a Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment environment and processes that no existing off-the-shelf offering can provide.  You will work as a team member to define, develop, and maintain the build/test/release management tools suites, systems, and methodologies needed to enable our geographically-dispersed engineering team to efficiently deliver quality solutions to meet the needs of our customers and the needs they will have in the future.  You will form the cooperative bond between Engineering and Operations that is the basis of DevOps, working closely with both of these types of teams, and even into the realm of Information Technology when solutions in that realm are needed.

 

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Minimum Required Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • 7 to 10 years experience as a Development Operations Engineer.
  • Software development life-cycle/release management experience
  • Experience with Docker (compose, Dockerfile, image creation/deployment, etc.)
  • Experience with Puppet (usage, coding, server configuration/administration/maintenance, etc.)
  • Experience with SVN (usage, server configuration/administration/maintenance, etc.)
  • Experience with Git (usage, GitLab server configuration/administration/maintenance, etc.)
  • Experience with perl scripting
  • Experience with python scripting
  • Experience with bash (bsh, csh, sh) scripting
  • Experience with Java programming (stand-alone utility, web apps, etc.)
  • Experience with Munin/NAGIOS monitoring
  • Ability to work alone and as a team member

Preferred Additional Experience:

  • Experience with build tools (Ant, Gradle, CMake, etc.)
  • Experience with VM tools/environments (AWS, Azure, VMware, Fusion, Vagrant, etc.)
  • Experience with web-based services and protocols (HTTP, REST, JSON, Apache, Nginx, Tomcat)
  • System admin-level knowledge of Linux (Ubuntu preferred)
  • System admin-level knowledge of Windows (Server, NT)
  • System admin-level knowledge of Apple (iOS, OSX).  Code-signing/certificate expertise is a plus
  • DevOps team experience
  • Experience in Java using Spring Framework, AngularJS, JDBC, Eclipse
  • Agile/Kanban/ScrumMaster experience
  • CI/CD system familiarity (especially GoCD, AnthillPro)
  • Artifact management system experience (Pulp, Nexus, Maven, etc.)
  • Familiarity with Atlassian tools suite (Confluence, HipChat, JIRA)
  • Experience with Docker clustering/orchestration tools (Swarm, Consul, Kubernetes, Mesos, etc.)

Ideal Candidate Experience:

  • A burning desire to automate everything
  • A keen appreciation for the use of defined processes, and an ability to refine same
  • Superior communication skills, especially in code comments and user- and admin-level documents created/maintained
